IVY STATES reimagines "Holding Out For A Hero" as an ode to his daughter
RELEASE DATE: APRIL 22nd, 2021
As a new father in the pandemic, Ivy States spent countless hours reading children's books to his daughter only to find a lack of strong female representation within the books. "It was surprising to see how often girls were shown as the secondary character, or not a character at all. Especially when the characters are animals, or dinosaurs or whatever...they're always referred to as 'he'." With that, Ivy decided to put more stories into the world with strong female characters, the only way he knows how, starting with a reimagining of Bonnie Tyler's smash hit "Holding Out For A Hero" where the woman is the hero being searched for.
